BATTERIES IN TEST EQUIPMENT
Batteries In Test Equipment includes all the various batteries used in my test equipment. Mostly these are all standard Alkaline 9V PP3 types used in portable test equipment such as Multi-Meters. These need changing usually on an annual basis.

More specialist rechargeable batteries are used in test equipment usually to power RAM to store settings or calibration data. These need the test equipment powering-up occasionally to charge the batteries.

Regular checks on battery condition is a good preventative maintenance measure. I have had test equipment damaged by leaking batteries, see HP 8170A Logic Pattern Generator scrapped because of leaking batteries damaging the PCB.

I put a small sticker on or near the battery with a date code, ie. 08/16 (August 2016) to indicate when the battery was last changed or tested.
