The HP 86222A RF Plug-In is used with the HP 8620C Sweep Oscillator and generates a RF signal in the range 10 MHz to 2.4GHz. This was bought on eBay as part of a job lot. In 1980 this cost $4,100 with internal leveling included. A 'B' version was also available which included 1MHz, 10MHz & 50MHz crystal markers for $4,800 which adds an extra pcb and front panel components. Option 002 was a 70dB step attenuator for $350 and option 004 rear panel RF output for $80. The Manual was not available for download.

Powered-up on a Variac and all seems to be working ok. A friend sent me the Operating and Service Manual so will carry out performance tests next. Also need the correct scale for the 8620C, part number is 86222-90029.
March 2010
Testing a 8620C Sweep Oscillator revealed a problem with the 86222A loading the Marker pulse. This was shorting out to an adjacent 0V pin in J2, an IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) and has probably been a fault since first manufactured! This required a new wire and a cut track to bypass the problem. Operator's Checks and Performance Tests have now been completed satisfactorily.

All the 8407A & 8410C based Network Analyser System, including the 86222A, has now been Sold.
